SonReal - Supersize
The guitar at the start was what kept me listening to the song. I heard a mixtape of this rapper/singer back in 2012 called "Good News" and had some great songs on it. "Inside" was the best off that mixtape by far. Ive thought a lot of this guys songs are catchy too. I do remember having this on my playlists as I played basketball so, I did listen to this a bunch. "Bloggers wouldnt fuuk with me, now loving me is a luxury". I did post this at boxden and got no comments, but im typing about the song now. The beats that this rapper picks are good but he does make some cringy and corny videos. When he says the " yeahhhh baby" super corny. Im not sure how big his following but he is Canadian. "who knows, who knows who knows", not sure why hes saying that. "Take you time, lil homie be proud" not sure what that means also but overall I didnt hate the song. It seems that SonReal wants to be like Kanye West. The cover is like a few of the other newer songs too. Just a plan color and the words of the song. The way the song ends saying "Who knows, Who knows" is cool.

Young Thug - Take Care
This one one of the 3 songs I liked off this album. The songs were really good. So many great quotes in this song. " You got me stopping at the green light". I actually did that once too. The beat on this is really catchy, sounds pop like. Doesnt sound hiphop at all. Plus Young Thug isnt rapping any nice verses on here, just singing kind of. The cover artwork is interesting also, got a cool candle thing in the background and looks like hes playing the gutiar to a doll on the couch. "Maison Margiellas, they ain't come with no strings, and the jeans Rockafeller" if you could understand that first line in the verse, props. Just sounded like some mumbles but then on other parts of the verse, you can clearly understand what hes saying. The more I listen to the song right now to type this, its way more pop than hiphop. This is the last Young Thug song on the list but all three songs did make the list this year. "Bill Gates, Im your stepson", I wonder why he added that line but its catchy. The beat without all the techno sounds does like a hiphop beat but the way Young Thug flows over the beat makes it a good song.

Hippie Sabotage - Options

The beat switches are awesome in this song. The guitar at the start sounds cool. I thought the whole song was catchy. Not really rapping but singing I would say. The song slows down at 1:18 and has some sample from a movie maybe. Song starts again at 1:47. It has some really deep lyrics I think. The only other songs I had known from this group was just a remix they did of a Tove Lo song. They have another great song called "Your Soul", not lyrics on that one but the beat is great like this song. They didnt get created with artwork for the cover. This song was off the Options EP, has a song called "High Enough" that samples Halsey and it good too. The first verse is the same as the second verse but there is also a bridge in the song. Just now listened to the "Straight to my head" song also, added that to January. This song though below the words is great. Just a white and black cover with words on it, simple. "I be going crazy til I'm mother****in' dead /I got angels on my shoulders with the devil in my head" the way the hi hats come in at this part is really nice I thought. The bridge could be the best part of this song. Some of the lyrics in this song are dark, talking about angels and demons.

Drake - Back To Back

Another Drake song. I think he has 4 or 5 on the list this year. I remember when this song came out, I was laying on the bed listening to the breakfest clubs video on the song. I think it was wasnt he did one diss and then this diss? Cannot recall. Drake makes the flow so easy to learn the words and sing along. The way he emphasizes the rhyming words at the end of the bar. "I dont wanna hear about this ever again", Sorry Drake. "You gon' make me buy bottles for Charlamagne", I actually watched the episode hear Charlamagne Tha God opened the bottles Drake sent him. I only listen to the rapping Drake song. The ones on this list, because I think his rapping is kind of singing. So when he really sings, its just too much for me to enjoy I guess. 'Back to back, like I'm Jordan '96, '97" I was really into the basketball back then too. There are some lines on here that song like Drake is just talking over the beat and it flows. I might have mentioned that before though. This beat was an awesome pick, it definitly slaps. Drake really slapped back twice real fast, this song came out four days after the "Charged Up" diss track. The super fast hi-hat going on sounds really cool, but those simple hard knocks the beat is doing sounds a bit like his newer song called "Cant have everything".

DJKhaled - Pick These Hoes Apart
This is another song that got on the list somehow? I listened to that DJ Khaled maybe once or twice and so maybe this was one I played a few times more? Because I listen to songs by song titles and I wouldnt have added this to any list. I could go through and check each month too and if I didnt find the song on each list, itd ruin this list basically. "Fuuk the blogs" - French Montana says on the song. I just dont relate to the lyrics in this song so its not fun listening to it. I wouldnt want to pick any hoes apart too. Im never going to pick any hoes apart. I dont call women hoes but this is a rap song so "Pick These Women Apart" wouldnt be cool or something. Conscience rap isnt mainstream and it sucks. And Some of these lyrics are just not something I would listen to, Im going to be extremely careful on what gets played in 2018 the most.

Portugal. The Man - Noise Pollution

The video came out for this last winter, was really interesting. The singer starts way up in a tree, then doing push ups in some stream. The girl singer in this band reminds me of someone I know also."So down, is there no hope? / I can't believe in no one" shes the one singing that part. They are singing in another language in parts of this song too. I think its french. Song might just be about music. "I love that Noise Pollution". The video ending is cool, it seems like hes going back up where he started in the trees but in a car. The way the singer says "They got it out for me" @1:25, sort of spooky but it fits the song. This sounds more of a electronic song than rock n roll to me. This band had a few songs on my 2016 list also. The video was shot in Alaska, it does look like Alaska from what Ive seen in videos and pictures. I remember this song being out and not knowing if it was old or new. Then when "Feel it Still" was released, I sort of thought that was the first single for a new album. This "Noise Pollution" song was also on their newest album called "Woodstock".

Rittz - Im only Human
This album was really great. Tons of great songs. Rittz was flow great over the beats too. Its verse to find a bad Rittz verse. He was on Tech N9ne's record label called Strange Music but I dont think he is now. The lyrics in this song are great too, makes you think about life and the past. There was banter at another site about the album, I dont think there was any here. Dont think there is a Rittz thread. The lyrics are some deep lyrics about his life, I can relate to some of the lyrics too. The beat is simple, and im not sure if thats him singing on the hook or not. If it is, then I know why another person on another site said the hook was corny. If its just another singer thats cool, but maybe he just sang it himself? The way the violin plays faster at the end sounds real nice. The cover artwork on this album seems to be in a bar, just sitting in a chair. The album title "Last Call", not sure what that means. The flows in the verses on this song are really nice. The flow of the verses are just fast enough to be fast kind of and understand what hes saying. Im going back to the album now to listen but the album was great. "Into the Sky" is a great song, just listened to that now and hes saying "Finger up to the sky"? Cant be listening to that type of lyrics in 2018. "F*** Cancer" is a great song off this album too. I remember Rittz last album called "Top of the Line" was nice and then newer one called "Last Call" is even better. The video is okay but I wonder why they choose to pick a conscience song as the single around the album release? The violin throughout the song sounds awesome, but violins are always great on songs too.

Greg Street - Good Day Ft. Nappy Roots
This was a song I heard from a movie and then searched on spotify. I heard the song back 2015 maybe when I watched the movie. People on here should start coming on musicbanter and typing how they want their day to be, then see if it matchs what happens. I added this song, because I wanted to have a good day. The beat sounds like a certain Dr.Dre beat too but ill lay off that. The verses are nice, the lyrics are great in the song. I just looked the video up and it says Greg Street is the artists, featuring Nappy Roots. Thats cool, Im kind of confused and just think its a good song and the song title can be on playlists. Ive been listening to this roup since they came out with their first album, that was awesome.

alt-J - Nara

The cover artwork was what got me into this band. This was the first album that I heard from this band. The cover has a nice mixture of different colors just painted on where ever. Wow, this songs a dude singing about another dude. He is saying "Hallelujah" a lot though so it might be that the man he found is Jesus. This is kind of like the mumble rap songs. This would just be mumble rock ."Hallelujah, Bovay, Alabama" and "Unpin your butterflies, Russia" two locations mentioned in the song and I never heard until now after reading the lyrics. "Marry a man like no other", pause. This band does create great music though. Their was a song called "Left hand's free" off this album that was the single and it was played on the radio a lot. That might have made the list last year. The newest album from this band is called "Relaxer" its also great. Just watching that new video for "Deadcrush" made me add that song and another song called " Hit me like that snare" thats also great.

Drake - KMT Ft. Giggs

KMT? This was another song off that "A Playlist by October firm" its right on the cover.A british rapper that goes by "Giggs" is also on this song. "I heard your new sh*t and im Kissing My Teeth", did not know that was what the song meant until hearing it now. Normally british rappers have their own flow over mostly faster beats. The whole second verse is Giggs, and there is more Giggs on this song than Drake. Its an okay song, the beat is nice. "Batman, da-na-na-da-na" is the last line of the song, not sure what he means". After I stopped for a while and went to the plug.dj here, Violet/Tmonk played a song feature Giggs also. In that song, he also had batman line. Giggs is a grime rapper im thinking because of the song in the plug.dj was grime too. This song isnt on youtube, darn. Ill listen typing about it then because it should be on youtube damnit. Heres a rinky dink link to hear the song.
