Help identifying a song?? (single, American, African)

ok the song contains this line, " this is how it ends with a simple or single telephone call ". im pretty sure its an african-american male and it sounds like r&b. the line above contains either simple or single one of those two words. i heard the song like couple of times but never figured out who sings it. it also sounds like a slow song.
