Default Help me find this song please?

I hope I'm posting this in the right place....

I'm trying to find a song for my father, he's really sick and it would mean the word to him because we use to listen to this song when I was little.
BUT I haven't heard it for 10 years, I can't remember the lyrics, who sings it (I know it's a man), or the title.
The song tells a story about a father and daughter, how the daughter grows older. One verse talks about how the daddy use to walk his daughter home from school and he would carry her books, then the daughter started walking home with this boy and he would carry her books, and the daughter didn't need her daddy anymore. Eventually the daughter gets married.

This search seems hopeless but before I gave up I thought I would ask if anyone if they knew what song I'm talking about.
It is not Butterfly Kisses.

I asked around other sites as well, I just hope I can find it

Thanks for your time,
Allison
