Default Really Really Urgent!!!!

Hi, I am really hoping that someone can help me.

My Grandfather dies two days ago and his funeral is in 36hours. I am trying to find an Aled Jones song that he once mentioned he wanted played at his funeral but nobody can remember it.

All I know is that is was the song Aled sang as his last song during his performance in Brisbane December 2003.

I know this is a long shot but if anyone knows this song it would mean so much to me and my family.

Please please please please if there is anyone out there that can help me I will be forever grateful.

Thank you
hailmags

i am sorry to hear about your grandfather. i could not find a set list for that specific performance, but if you goto the following link you will be able to find his discography. seeing as how this performance was in 2003, i would imagine the songs he sang might be on one of the 3 albums he had out by the year 2003. good luck with your search.

Check out and contact Susie Veale, one of the moderators of the Aled Jones fanclub on Yahoo or on his website forum (Google Aled Jones, go to forum) - you will have to join one of them or both to make contact. She lives in Australia and has attended Aled's concerts there, and is very likely to have a programme for the 2003 concerts.

Thanks Carolan...you're a gem! Hailmags has been in contact with me by email and I've been able to tell her that Aled sang "How Great Thou Art" as his powerful encore in Brisbane. Thanks too, jgd85 for your help, the song does indeed come from Aled's first baritone album recorded on the UCJ label in 2002, called "ALED".
Deepest thoughts and prayers for you and your family Hailmags for your Grandfather's farewell tomorrow.

As you say, right-track, the power of the internet!

Actually I am quite often in contact with Susie as I belong to both the forum and the fanclub for Aled, and also represent Aled on classicalx (as she well knows, even if she pretends she doesn't!!!) so it was easy to know who to refer hailmags to. I'm delighted Susie could help in time, and hope hailmags was able to obtain a copy of Aled's "How Great Thou Art" for the funeral. I can't think of a better choice for Grandfather to have made, and hope that the family found comfort in knowing that Grandfather's wish had been fulfilled, and felt equally uplifted by Aled's singing.

*puts on poshest speaking voice*

Well it pleases me that this forum was a medium for hailmags getting the help she desperately needed.

It's unusual for people to get such a quick reply to a 'Name That Tune' request.
So a big thanks on behalf of hailmags, for a well timed shout out.

Nice one.

Also, I have to say...young Aled has come on leaps and bounds since his balls dropped.

^ only joking.

Now, right track, if you knew anything at all about Aled, you would know that a posh speaking voice is that last thing you need when talking to or about him. A really good sense of humour would serve you much better....! And as to "young Aled" etc - like most fellows I've ever met, he's left his teenage years behind, has deveoped a very succesful adult career and should be judged on that, not on what he did 20 years ago -as we would most of us wish, I guess.

This came through on a "Google Alert" for Aled (as I said, I'm his rep on classicalx.com), that was how I picked it up. I'm just glad hailmags was able to get in touch with Susie so quickly, I knew she would be able to help
