Good thing they did...in the 1300 came the little ice age! They'd already conquered England, France, Scicily, all the baltic, most of Russia, Ukraine and were the forefathers of most Dynasties in the middle east by then as "Varangians" and "Mameluks".

I don't watch nearly enough TV to justify things like cable or satellite, but having seen the History Channel before, I wonder how they are going to fit Hitler and Aliens into a show about Vikings......

It is a fact that vikings had a shieldmaiden. A woman who had chosen to fight as a warrior in the Scandinivian countries. They appear a lot in their stories, myths and legends. But the are also mentioned in the reports of survivors. And in those days you didn't brag about your defeat in battle to a woman.

Actually it is the Girl from the knife not the brother who started fever ray.

Out of curiosity I did a Google search and I didn't really come up with any conclusive evidence of this. It seems more like legend and hearsay.
