This album took me awhile to get into, I'd love the *** Parade and Satanic Panic but I could never really get past the opener (which I loved) until I started listening to it more and then I became addicted and I don't know if it is my favorite Of Montreal album but it's certainly up there. It's bizarre, it has this shimmering happy quality on the surface but underneath it's this neurotic breakdown. It's beautiful, ethan votes excellent.

I have to confess to never hearing this album, but that section I quoted above, was enough to get me interested.

They're good , they have the same sort of offbeat weirdness The Flaming Lips have.
They don't sound like them , but the ideology behind it has similarities if you get my meaning.

Very true...though being upbeat is always an effort, when your adrift on a sea of misery.

^ Aren't we all a little like that?

btw that's one of the most interesting descriptions of an album I've ever read.
Just hope the tunes measure up to it.
Will listen later.

I really don't want to vote on this yet as I have only heard this for the first time tonight. It is definitely an album that needs multiple listens. Not because it is particulary difficult. More the fact that there is a lot going on in each track that will be revealed over time.

I immediately like CATO AS A PUN and THE PAST IS A GROTESQUE ANIMAL. This is not normally the sort of thing I listen to but I will certainly listen to this one again and return with a more informed opinion.
