It's a grower definitely, i've given it about 5 listens now and i'm still not sure on calling it excellent but there's some beautiful moments on it as well as some great poppy elements so i'll go very good.

I just got it on vinyl. Im voting excellent based solely on the fact that AC albums take a couple weeks to grow on me, and I already like this more than I did their other stuff on the first listen.

As an outsider to the Animal Collective fanbase I'd like to remark that this record didn't seem that spectacular. Admittedly I never liked Strawberry Jam but this just seemed to reinforce my original thoughts about the band.

Is there something I'm not getting?

absolutely excellent record, this band are incredible.
Their progression is fascinating and excellent, although I like their early noisier music just as much as the stuff they're releasing now.

There's no band like them just now, one of the most interesting acts around for me. The fact they've caught on with such a large audience is brilliant as well.

I've just listened to this for the first time and the first impressions are fantastic. I can't remember the last time an album gave me goosebumps on the first listen. Also frightened almost made me cry. The only down side is that I've heard a lot of it live so it all sounds a lot less epic on the computer/earphones (especially My girls which sort of crushes you with its booming drum bass live). I need to invest in a better sound system. And I definitely need to hear all this high and have multiple eargasms.
I vote excellent. Possibly album of the year.

Sounds like another album to get. Feels is probably my favorite, but Strawberry Jam also got heavily played.

Each day I have a new favorite song. That's a mark of a great album. It's certainly their most immediate and most accessible. I'm not sure how that'll pan out in the long run but for now I can't get enough of it. Even when I'm not listening to it it spins in a continual loop in my head. Insanely catchy stuff...The only song that does nothing for me is Taste. In the flowers has to be one of the best opening songs ever.
