A very good album, doesn't quite touch on excellent though. I loved it on the first listen and i've grown to love it even more after repeated listens. I like the way you can hear the natural reverb of the church on her vocals sometimes and the fact that this album hasn't succumbed to the loudness wars or over-production, it has a very nice warm production to it. My favourite songs at the moment are 'The Glorious Land' (apart from that ****ing bugle) which has a nice gothic feel to it and 'Written On The Forehead' which is a very memorable song.

Oh man that is so awful, worst part of the whole album. So out of place.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

It sounds really out of place, it's completely off time with the music and it's just generally annoying. But everything else about that song makes up for it.

I've only heard four songs from it so far (the ones uploaded to her YouTube channel) so I can't give an opinion on the entire album yet but I really liked what I heard. Like someone above said, it's not excellent, not the best she's done, but still really great. I think it has the potential to be my second favorite album of her's, behind "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea."

I'm disappointed in this album and I've liked all the ten other albums she's released since 1992. Most of the songs sound like outtakes and demos. I will say that a couple of PJ Harvey's earlier albums took awhile to grow on me and that may be the case with Let England Shake.

I bought this the other day, listened to it once in the car. It's good, but not entirely memorable. Songs like "The Words That Maketh Murder" with a male back-up vocals (John Parish?) were the best.

I was listening to the album for the first time the other day and this song started and I was like, "Oh wow, that's the bugle they were talking about!" That is really horrible.

I love it, rated it good. She's really given a more smoky sound now, with a folk-like nature to her lyrics.
