Lady GaGa - Just Dance

You've likely heard this somewhere before so I'll cut to the chase. This sound comes across as a throwback to that terrible club **** they had on in the early 90's. The major difference here is that Lady Gaga seems to have a tounge-in-cheek approach, knowing how foolish the club life can be, and knowing to put actual lyrics in here rather than stopping at a rough sketch of a plot like the early club music had at the dawn of the 90's.

At the days end its a pop song. And its not your indie-acceptible pop either, this is unabashed materialistic pop. But its ****ing good. Maybe its because of the nostaligia, but I embraced this song with an expansive wingspan.

I... Do not like Gaga. Shame she has to sell her body so much when she has a talent that is perfectly capable of getting her to the top.

I don't understand why everyone is saying Lady Gaga is selling her body.
She's expressing herself (or something) but I don't think she's selling her body at all.

I never hear anyone say "I don't like her voice, but I'm going to buy Gaga's album because she's ****ing hot!"
Or "Wow, look at her body, I want to hear her music!"

People who talk about her body, in my experience, have already been a fan of her music. They think she's hot. Often, these people are gay men.

MOST often, I hear people saying they think she's weird or hard to understand or annoying in the way she dresses and acts, so IF SHE IS "selling her body" I don't think it's working, but I haven't seen a time where I thought she was.

I guess it depends what people mean when they say that. I could understand someone whose opinion was that she uses her appearance to make money.

She's marketing her weirdness for her image and to do that she wears outrageous customs some of them are more revealing than other female pop artist would wear (e.g. Adele).

These both make sense, but when I think of "selling her body" I think of someone sexually exploiting themselves for money. Am I being too narrow here?

Her appearances are outrageous, but she also made some of them, she's showing off her art in many cases, and the art of others in many other cases.

I completely disagree that she's more revealing than most other artists.
She is just as revealing as many artists. Adele is a horrible example because she is the least crazy, most down to earth female artist in pop right now. Horrible example.

For the record, I am mostly playing devil's advocate here. While I do agree with the stance I am taking, I don't like Lady Gaga musically nor do I support a lot of the ridiculous things she does.

I like blasting Lady Gaga in my car super loud with all the windows down. Especially at red lights, where I wink at the attractive women in adjacent lanes.

Yeah, anyone who says she's selling records based on sex appeal is full of it. She definitely promotes her music through image – actually, I think that's a big part of her appeal – but she's not just showing tits and ass to make money, she's showing tits and ass because fucking intergalactic-pirate-meat-zombie suits tend to show tits and ass.

I think people vastly promote just about anything through image, not just popular music.

I do feel that Miss Gaga has legitimate chops in her genre, and that may have aided her overall popularity.

I did have a discussion with a friend recently, though, and he's a straight male. He said, "I'm not too into her music. I guess it's better than most pop shit, but anyone who says they wouldn't fuck her is lying through their teeth."

I'd pretty much fuck anyone at this point, to be honest.
