We're Only In It for the Money is the most underrated album of all time. Front to back brilliance, lyrically and musiically. Light years ahead of stuff coming out 10 years from now.

I don't think it is underrated at all tbh. I agree it does have it's good moments and I do enjoy this album, but I think there are better Zappa albums out there and gets as much praise as it deserves.

Absolutely Free is my personal favorite. Who else could make an instantly classic concept album about vegetables?

I'd say early Zappa is underrated in general, I suppose, its just WOIFTM is my absolute favorite.

Although "Brown Shoes Don't Make It" on Absolutely Free might be my favorite song.

Bump for Zappa

Not much beats his work and genre experiments.

I first heard Hot Rats and it blew me away. Still to this day my favourite Zappa album (Especially Green Gene) Was never a HUGE Mothers fan, but I still liked it.

However, my favourite period would have his later stuff, classical works and the work with the symphony.

pretty sure i've said it already but pour moi 60's Zappa>>>>the rest.
didn't he get pushed into the orchestra pit at the royal Albert Hall and eff up his vocal chords? not quite sure how your voice drops an octave from that kind of accident but apparently..

TBH there is no era of Zappa that I dislike but Hot Rats is so awesome. Tinseltown Rebellion is great though. His classical stuff is great too.

I was forced to delete all but three of my many Zappa albums yesterday. I was clearing all of my low bit-rate albums from my collection, and most of my Zappa albums were 192kbps or less I am now going to re-obtain his complete discography in 320kbps glory! And I just heard Hot Rats for the first time yesterday. I'm infatuated with Zappa at the moment.
