RIVERSIDE

This progressive Rock/Metal band hail from Poland although singer/main songwriter Mariusz Duda sings in English. If you are a fan of Porcupine Tree and need a fix of something similar then Riverside are for you. While not as technically competent or eclectic as PT, they are a good solid band who rely on Duda's emotive voice rather than any particular band members superior musicianship. If for some reason you have never heard of Porcupine Tree, then fans of latter day Pink Floyd should like what they do.

Tracklisting:
1. Beyond The Eyelids
2. Rainbow Box
3. Out Of Myself
4. Conceiving You
5. Dna Ts. Rednum or F.Rag
6. Back To The River (checkout the blatant Pink Floyd rip in the final third)
7. Second Life Syndrome
8. Loose Heart
9. Artificial Smile
10. The Curtain Falls
11. Ultimate Trip
12. Before.

Scott-any chance you can upload the DH comp to sendspace or MU? I can't do Mediafire for some reason and I want to listen to it!

Since no one bothered to reply here, i might as well bump it
Their guitarist sure does know how its done. Creates an awesome atmosphere when combined with the powerful vocals and some great bass lines.(rather loud, which I actually like)
I think anyone who likes Pink Floyd should check them out...even non-metal fans would like this. Very melodic...like a metal version of pink floyd.

Hmmm, I don't know how this only has one reply, but anyway... Riverside is great. I'd agree with them being a metal version of Pink Floyd - the guitarwork is very Gilmourish.

I think the fact that Riverside are musically unadventurous puts people off but what they do, they do extremely well. i'm just a closet prog head and proud of it

I know they aren't all that original, but there's just something about their music that clicks...I think it's the vocals/atmosphere, but even the instrumentals like 'Reality Dream I, II & III' are really good.(should have included one of those in the comp. )

Oh c'mon. You know Jackhammer uses Emotional vibes against originality. A brilliant band that deserve so much more exposure. No pretension, just good Prog tunes and no drawn out vibes.

The same with me

I know Riverside little bit longer period than Porcupine Tree and I love them too. Some people say they aren't original, hmm... But their music is attractive for me and this is the important thing
My fave albums are Out of myself and live album Reality Dream. Third place is for new CD Anno Domini High Definition.
I love songs The Same River and Reality dream II. Than also O2 Panic Room, Schizophrenic Prayer, Hyperactive and I Believe.

Do you know also Lunatic Soul?

I love it too. It's another project of M. Duda, mixture of ambient and progressive music without electric guitars. Duda himself calls the sound “oriental-alternative”.
Some people like it more than Riverside because it's more original. Yes, it is. But if you like Riverside, you should try it and I think you will like Lunatic Soul too. And if you don't like Riverside, try it too - it's different so you may like it
That's a pity that this project is (meanwhile) only one album.
I can't post links yet but they have MySpace and they have lot of songs on Youtube, you can find it.
My favourite songs are Lunatic Soul and The New Beginning.

Anno Domin? Damn good. Slightly different approach but leaves you wanting more as it's only an E.P.

To Petula:

Never heard of Lunatic Soul but I will certainly check them out!
