Default maudlin of the Well

...was an avant-garde metal band from Boston, MA (closely related to their followup project Kayo Dot). Relatively short-lived, motW managed to release three albums before disbanding in 2003.

Any other fans out there?

I have yet to check out Kayo Dot... been putting them off.

I listened to that one album they (motW) did. It was pretty weird, but I enjoyed it.

Kayo Dot are more progressive, less metal, but they're founded on the same principle structural style as motW. Blue Lambency Downward was undeniably one of the best albums of 2008.

Love Maudlin, not so much Kayo Dot though.KD are guilty of alot of pointless meandering in the name of avante-garde or progressiveness.Maudlin were much more focused.

Yeah I love both Maudlin and Kayo Dot and like them for different reasons. With Maudlin you could play a different track as a recommendation and still not con vey what they are all about. I only have two albums (Leaving Your Body Map and Bath). What is the other album?

The new album, it has just raped me, so hard.

It's perfect, it's the best they've ever done, lacks the metal in the normal quantities but who the **** cares, this is done so much better than Kayo Dot was.
