Default Dark Progressive Rock bands

I want some really dark prog rock music. I don't want any prog metal. Evil sounding stuff would be preferable. Mysterious sounding stuff is good. I just am getting tired of the happy image that prog has been producing in my mind lately. Mellotron stuff is good, like early King Crimson. I guess that is more what I want. Do any other bands produce that feeling you get when you listen to the darker songs of the early King Crimson records?

EDIT: Oh, and I do not want stuff like Tool.

You need some Van der Graaf Generator. Now.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Comus is my favorite prog band. As for Van der Graaf Generator, what album should I start with?

Epilog is pretty good too.
Both great albums though.

It's not Progressive but Mount Eerie's latest is sombre, reflective with a hint of Black Metal but it isn't Black Metal. Just listen to the damn thing.
