It's like it's weird avant-garde but not too much it stops being memorable/fun and has that type of more natural sounding abrasiveness in the vocals I love. And man it's so raw/energetic. I always brushed off no-wave as some post-punk related genre I wouldn't care about, why did I? :o Also how is this contortions **** as aggressive as early japanese punk like holy ****. I should check out this genre while exploring post-hardcore I like.

Is there also up beat post-punk with more rough vocals? It seems like a good genre with a lot less limitations but a lot of it just doesn't seem to be made for me.

I'd say The Contortions were probably the most accessible no wave band, besides maybe early Sonic Youth. Probably not though, it's been a while but I definitely remember SY's first couple of releases being not that user friendly.

Why do bands always have to swing so far one way or the other.

Want more extreme music? Well **** any happy chords/melodies and generally **** anything that could be catchy.

Want something weird and dissonant? Let's make it so avant garde it's practically unlistenable to most

Want something more dynamic and melodic? Oh lets drop the harsh vocals altogether.

I really, really like what post-hardcore was doing early on and some major bands later but as they started to develop more into what their unique elements were and became mostly just that they lost me. Keep the punkness pls. Currently listening to the first unwound lp fake train and it's the ****
