Default Touch & Go appreciation

I'm listening to The Didjits right now, and they flat out rule. So I decided to make this.

If you don't know, Touch & Go is a record label formed in the early 80s (possibly late late 70s?). Anyway, originally it was used to release early Midwest hardcore albums by bands such as The Meatmen, Negative Approach, and The Necros. They went on to release stuff by great bands like Big Black, Shellac, Slint, Naked Raygun, Butthole Surfers, Scratch Acid, Big Boys, Killdozer, The Jesus Lizard and many many more. There's some more bands I've not heard, but I'm trying to get as much of the label's output as possible in the future.

the full list of bands who hav been on Touch & Go can be found here:

http://www.tgrec.com/bands/index.php

You may be aware of the recent Touch & Go 25th anniversary show, featuring most of the labels most important bands, including reunions by The Didjits, Negative Approach, Scratch Acid and Big Black (!). Oh how I'd love to have been there

finally, here's that album by The Didjits. It's called Hornet Pinata, and if you like fun, quirky punk rock then give it a listen.

so what do y'all think of Touch & Go, and the bands on it?

Touch & Go rocks, I almost went to the anniversary show with my friend but it got complicated and I couldn't go. But he went. And told me all about how great it was... bastard.

That sucks. There's lots of videos on youtube if you want to see footage, although that'll probably make you feel worse for not going.

I'd have went, but I'm 16 and have no job and thereefore not nearly the money needed to embark on a trip to Chicago. So instead I saw some ****ty local ska band on the saturday

I used to listen to a load of stuff on that label in the mid 90s , most of the stuff you mentioned plus stuff like Girls Against Boys , Superchunk , Silverfish and I seem to remember they reissued a load of Spacemen 3 stuff as well.

what/who do Superchunk sound like? I've heard a fIREHOSE cover of one of their songs (Slack Motherf'ucker), and it's amazing.

They were typical of the noise pop stuff that was around at the time.
It was quite punk orientated but it had a melodic poppy edge to it , not punk pop , more like something like Husker Du and stuff like that.

I don't really like Superchunk.

But that's just me.
