The Mekons - The Quality of Mercy is Not Strnen

This is The Mekons' first LP and it's a lot rougher than some of their later material. It's very rough, angular, off-beat, abrasive, "avant-garde" post-punk, released a few months after "Live At The Witch Trials" and similar in many regards. Definetely worth checking out, as well as their later material.
Young Marble Giants - Colossal Youth

I've really been getting into this album recently, it gets better with every subsequent listen. Combine eery organ minimalism with a cheap drum machine and some haunting vocals and you're well on your way to understanding this album. Seriously, give it a couple listens, it'll grow on you.
Magazine - Real Life

Magazine is the second band of Howard Devoto after he left the Buzzco
cks, and Real Life is their debut. Magazine retains a lot of the Buzzco
cks' songwriting skills, and shoves them into a twisted post-punk frame, with lots of dynamic shifts and interesting experimentation and whatnot. Great for any fan of post-punk, in my opinion a bit overrated, but whatever.
