me and my friend were having a little argument on whether or not minor threat is classified as a straight edge band. He said the they werent because they only have like 4-5 staight edge songs. I said that they were because they pretty started s.e. and refer to them self in interviews as a straight edge band. Whats your guys opinions.

Minor Threat is not a straight-edge band. Ian has said himself that he never intended to start an entire scene; he was just expressing his personal choice. As far as I know, Ian is the only straight-edge member of the band.

According to their own record label (Dischord) they were but the band seemed to grow away from Ian's ideals. It is certainly true that he did'nt want to start a scene though.

I hate the label and the RULES it enforces.
To me, Minor Threat are about being in control of your life, Ian said himself it's not about a set of rules, which is definitely what it is about today.
