I love the English. They have done so much to contribute to music, punk and in general... this is one of my favorite English punk bands. GBH, which if I recall correctly, stands for Great British Hypocrites. I used to own this CD, City Baby's Revenge, but I left it at my friend's house. Never saw it again. It's all good, I can still find the songs online, on youtube and such. Here's one of my favorite tracks off that CD, it's called Diplomatic Immunity.

if you haven't already....these are essential

TSOL's first EP is one of the best examples of early American hardcore....direct, fast, angry

Social Unrest is a lesser known and really underrated Bay Area band from the late 70s and early 80s...I really don't think much sounded like this before this band....this EP came out in 82 and its fucking still incredible

Listening to this right now and i want to punch the walls....the drumming alone is phenomenal but just the overall feel of this EP as a whole is amazing

Hardcore even showed up in fucked up western redneck towns like Reno, NV....and its some of the best out there

Fang is one of the best things to come out of Berkley....this gutter junkie misanthropy at its best....nothing political here....just pure hate for humanity

Lullaby is easily within my top 3 all time best punk songs...

Now usually I loathe "girl power punk" and I was certainly no fan of "cannonball" when it came out (not a bad song, just didnt mesh with my taste is all)... However I love this one by the Breeders... Kim Deal would have made the best babysitter back then: carnivals, cigarettes, and what a goober to boot... I'm not one to bump music videos but this is just too fun:

^ Now you're talking my language.

I don't think what kim plays is punk rock though, i'd say she plays alternative.

Nice one... I'm about a decade rusty on my genres so I'll give you that, but IMHO, most great talent out there rarely stays within the confines of one genre. Theres so much overlap. And definitely a hint of grunge in there too... Probably why I'm so drawn to it TBH.. Anyway, nice to find someone who doesn't look at me like a monkey just flew out of my @$$ after posting breeders, wasnt sure what to expect since I'm still pretty new to the forum

Nah i love The Breeders, Kim deal is probably my favorite female musician of all time and i don't doubt punk influenced her in some way. Breeder tracks like 'Flipside' and 'Huffer' do have a punk vibe to them.

Not alot of ppl post the Breeders around here though, if you like her stuff you should try the amps.
