yeah and ive lamented the sex pistols for being a glorified boy band, but that doesnt mean all other punk bands were the same.

What utter rubbish.
McLaren had no influence over the band until Lydon left.
Look at the lyrics on Submission on NMTB , thats what happened when McLaren tried to interfear with the creative process , they took the piss out of him.

The sex pistols were no more McLarens boyband than the Clash were Bernie Rhodes boyband.

McClaren took over the reigns as manager after the New York Dolls realised he was a money grabbing fool and exploited them as his poster boys to gain more recognition for the trends he was selling in his shop. They just got a bit bigger then was first thought.

The only person who wore anything from his shop onstage was Glen Matlock.

Wonder what happened to him.

Didnt he form a band called the Rich Kids and then disappear into obscurity?

Credibilty is so yesterday man. When will people realise that the point of music is to express yourself however you want to in the most honest way possible, regardless of wether people think you're selling out or not?

Whats funny is that the people who accuse artists of selling out are always the first ones to say "its all about the music." If thats the case why not just jude it on what youre hearing?

He did too. He introduced Cookie and Jonesie to Lydon. McLaren was the one who did everything possible to get them to hate one another, like booking really badly co-ordinated tours where they would have to drive miles to each show in a crappy van that couldnt go uphills. He was the architect of all that. He manipulated them so that they wouldnt get along with one another and even that American tour was McLaren's little plan, make 'em play in the Southern states where they went down dreadfully when he could have booked 'em to play New York at CBGB's. You think that was all an accident?
