you know how many albums came out on 6/6/06?

Well, 50 claims he was serious. If Kanye outsells him, he is honestly saying that he will quit making solo albums.
If he will or not, who knows. But he is claiming that he will and he didn't make the comment tounge-in-cheek.

obviously they want their album release day to be all about them & dont want to share it with an equally or more successful rapper

I won't be argumentative, but I will say that saying most rappers are egotistical is ridiculous.

I would probably say

"A lot of famous rappers are egotistical"
