I was being sarcastic. I think there's good reasons for why all of them have the fame they have, even Sage. I mean I only like about 4 Sage songs but I've listened to 3 of his albums and he certainly has an audience that he appeals to. Same thing with Asher Roth, if you don't think I Love College could make him popular on its own party boy, catchy, merits then I don't think you understand how music becomes popular. It just bugs me because Kirby made this same statement in the last Asher Roth thread and didn't both explaining it then either.

Bleh, I didn't watch the whole thing but just enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth. I'll go and continue on living my life without Asher Roth in it.

Eh, it's a freestlye. A true freestyle too, not a written. Don't see hardly anyone doing that nowadays. So I won't say it's terrible or knock it too much because I understand how incredibly hard freestyling is. I used to freestyle in this huge freezer all night when I worked the 2-10PM shift at an ice cream place and I couldn't go smoothly for more than like 30seconds usually. I'm not an Asher fan at all but I won't knock a freestlye unless it's 100% garbage. And I don't think this was.

I couldn't do better but I think that anybody with a brain who knows how to rap should.

That was kind of shit.

I signed up but I've never posted. I check Wu Tang Corp weekly just to see what's going on in the rap world. There's a lot of Nas topics there too and I'm a big Nas fan. So I'm more of a lurker.

Freestylin is fun as hell though. I'm not good enough to want to do it in front of a lot of people. But I loved working at that ice cream place just cause I got to freestlye all night as loud as I wanted with nobody hearing me. Really helped me when I sat down and started writing stuff too cause when you're freestylin sometimes you start going with weird rhyme schemes that sound cool.

Anyways like I said, he's just goofin around and freestylin off the head. After the first 30 seconds or so things really go bad, but there's not many people on Earth who can do it really well so I'm not gonna hate on Asher

I like how people got mad at what I said.

I still think it's true.
I didn't say **** about Atmosphere and DoseOne and Sage Francis or anyone else.

Everyone that I've ever talked to about Asher Roth said the same thing.

"That white dude that made the college song?"

Maybe it's just where I live.

Edit: And I'm white, by the way.

Anecdotal evidence and a total lack of any sort of factual/logical argument. I give that post a solid 8.6. I don't get how you can listen to a catchy tune like I Love College and wonder how it got popular.

Just going off of my experience.

Edit: I would also like to add, his skin color is obviously not a factor in why I dislike him. I love plenty of white rappers, black rappers, etc.
I just don't think he would have been as recognized if he wasn't white.

One reason I say this, is because when most average rap / hip-hop listeners compared him to Eminem the first time they heard him.

I don't think Asher is just famous/popular cause he's white. It's cause he made a great college party song. And that is what he'll be forever known for.

I don't think he's a talented rhymer at all though.
