Default Ab-Soul-Control System

Damn this album is good.. Lyrical, raw and catchy as hell. Check it out!

I'm planning on writing up a full review here in a bit.

Underwhelming rapper to me but I'm genuinely enjoying the feel of the album. He's charismatic, and is good at changing the inflections, but rarely says anything that puts a grin on the face or changes my perception.
Very similar to school boy q in terms of themes but thankfully less party boy-ish.
As standard with black hippy the production is great.

I enjoyed this album a great deal more than Q's offering, which I felt was the same stupid **** about how G he apparently is, and how he likes nothing more than bitches and dollars.

Although, that being said there wasn't much on Control System that stood out, I shall need to re-visit it and see if my perspective changes.

These guys are both still lightyears behind Kendrick though.

Certainly way behind Kendrick. Completely boring album, that bordered on bad actually.

I also liked this a lot better than Schoolboy Q's last, although some of the beats on Habits and Contradictions are pretty damn awesome (ala hands on the wheel). I haven't really been too impressed with what I've heard from Kendrick but I've never delved too deeply into his stuff, any recomendations for a good album to start with? Are Section.80 and Overly Dedicated his only full albums?

Regarding Control System, I agree in a sense that there's not a lot new but it does seem like he has the potential to grow in the future, Pineal Gland is a fairly unique, orignal track imo. Terrorist Threats is also great, reminded me a little bit of Public Enemy in some ways. Like you said though (Sparky) the feel of the album is really awesome, I think that's what got me excited in the first place but after a few more listens I'm a little less impressed by each track itself. Still my favorite Black Hippy release so far though.

Section 8.0 is his first studio album, I believe OD is just a mixtape.
Really, listen to Section 8.0 it's miles beyond what his homies have brought out.

Just throwing it in the there, on further evaluation, Habits and Contradictions may be the worst album of the year in my opinion.

You could be right. I liked it at first, but now it just sounds like bro-ey trash. Schoolboy Q really doesn't have any substance.
