I couldn't even enjoy it and figure out which tracks he was on because FMF was being so gaudy and shit. He was basically playing it in the background while he kept dropping his stupid bomb sound effects and ranting at the other DJ that fucked up.

I can't even tell you how the album is.

There are a few lines that I heard from Jay that I thought he was going to break into a cover of a rock song but he was just using the line while keeping his own beat.

There are two of them that he quoted. Which rock songs you say? I can't tell you because of fucking FLEX!!! I'm going to pick up a copy today and then I'll get back to you.

It's not on Spotify yet - I'll stream it once it's available. What should I expect? Maybe I'll start liking Jay-Z?

I'm a big Jay-Z fan. He is actually my favorite ever...I have all his albums...even saw "Fade to Black" in the movie theater. I say all this to say that I'm really disappointed in this album and think it is the worst of his career. The beats are very mediocre and the lyrics are sub par and kind of dumbed down. I knew something was wrong because the marketing was different around this album, and no official single was released.

if anyone were looking for a download link, hypothetically they may gain one by sending Music Banter user Mankycaaant a personal message.

Also, I intend to listen tonight. Excited for this one, no doubt.

I've just been listening to Holy Grail and it sounds like a reference to the music industry again. Similar to Eminem's Not Afraid and 50 Cent's My Life. I could go on but basically:

The Magna Carta! If you don't know what that is look it up.
They mention things like 'Dirty Laundry' and 'Give It Up For Fame'.
The Tyson references about getting money then your life turns to ****.
Kurt Cobain and what he stood for, and the unfortunate way out.
Jay seems to be talking to himself as well, referring to old songs.
And, the Holy Grail. Immortality. Not as you may think, but, they are immortal.

Anyone else notice this?

I gave it a couple of play throughs and I'm liking it so far. He has a very similar theme to Kanye's about feeling wealthy but at the same time because he's new money getting looked down on by people with old money. He also talks about trying to help people from the bottom where he came from like giving them money but then he realizes just throwing money at them doesn't help he needs to inspire them.
