Default Why is rap music the only genre with diss tracks?

Why do you guys think rappers are so sensative and feel the need to go at each other in their music? generally, this does not happen in any other genre. Why do rappers behave like children?

It's a rap battle, that's all it is. It's been a big part of Hip Hop pretty much since the beginning. Basically it's testing your skills against another's. I don't think it's childish, it's actually kinda cool and some of the best verses have come from battles.

lots of cases of disses towards other artists in rock music even full songs dedicated towards it
Now that you mention it, that does sound familiar.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

I remember reading an article not a whole long time ago about rock songs with diss tracks. The only thing I remember is that chumbawumba has a song where they diss Bob Dylan.
