Oh how I love Collective Soul.

Precious Declaration and Shine are my two favorites and probably the 2 most mainstream songs they have but meh.

And Their album "Youth" came out Mid-2004.
Good album but there's been better.

It wasn't so much that they went soft as it is that they ran out of ideas. Counting the Days (if I remember correctly) was a horrible rip off of Metallica's "King Nothing" (in the guitar work only) and if it wasn't that song it was another radio single.

"I'm Feeling better now" was pretty good in my opinion, but songs like Precious Declaration were a real gem in a time when guitars were just being used to make fuzz, they had enough Eddie Vedder to get play from the alt. crowd but their guitar work was a shot from the past.
I'm listening to Counting the Days now, I guess they could have put that riff to better use, still I quite like it.

Runaway Train is quite a different song that managed to get a lot of radio play over here. It's quite a bit more depressing then their other work. Or it could be that every time I heard it on the radio it was raining and miserable outside. Still an enjoyable tune.

No, I don't have that one, but if it's a Greatest Hits album I probably have all the songs as I have their entire Back-Catalogue.

Will look in to it.

Yeah it is their GH, I don't know how you would confuse that, it has literally every song that you'd ever know:

Gel
December
Precious Declaration
Run
Shine
WHy Pt. 2
Heavy

I think there one of those bands where your probably better off just having the greatest hits. Not that they are bad, just not the most interesting of bands.

The recurring theme is that they haven't been as good since Ross Childress left. His awesome guitar work gave the band alot of their catchyness. I saw them live many times, and they were always great. CS usually play covers live and have rocked, 'Crazy Train', 'Mother', and other cool covers at theirs shows.

Or John Lennon or Pink Floyd or Babes in Toyland etc. Mother isn't exactly a rare songname and I doubt Danzig's the only one to have used it.
