Default Club Wars

The fall Club Wars will start on September 24, 2004. The tournament will be divided into 4 different rounds, with bands advancing from each round to the Championship on November 12. Here is a description of each round, the scoring rules, prizes, and other things in store for Club Wars this fall:

INVITATIONAL: This round will feature some of the top rock and metal bands in the Kansas City area. There will only be two shows of 4 bands each in this round, both serving as semi-finals. One band will advance to the championship from each show. The advancing band will be determined by a combination of fan and judges votes.

BLITZKRIEG: This round will feature the veterans, Kansas City area bands that have played in Club Wars before. There will be one preliminary show featuring 12 bands, each playing 3 songs. This will be a fan only vote with the top 4 vote getters advancing to the semi-final. The semi-final will be a judges only vote, with one band advancing to the championship.

REGIONAL: This round will be made up of bands based outside of the Kansas City area. In the past, the Regional Round of Club Wars went to other cities, this time bands from other cities will come to Kansas City. Approximately 12 bands will play in this round. There will be 4 preliminary shows and one semi-final. One band will advance from each preliminary to the semi-final, one band will advance to the championship from the semi-final. Bands that advance will determined by a judges only vote.

ROOKIE: This round will be made up of Kansas City area bands that are playing Club Wars for the first time. Approximately 18 bands will play in this part of the tournament. This round will be scored in the traditional Club Wars fashion, fans will vote for bands at each preliminary show. There will not be a nightly winner, the amount of votes each band gets at their show will determine their place in the standings. At the end of the round, the 3 bands with the most votes will advance to the semi-final, the bands that finish 4-7 will advance to the wild card playoff. One band will advance from the wild card to the semi-final, one band from the semi-final to the championship. The bands that advance from the wild card and the semi-final will be determined by a judges only vote.

CHAMPIONSHIP: The championship will be on Friday, November 12 at The Beaumont Club, this will be an 18 and over show. The band that wins the championship will be determined by a combination of fan and judges votes. The championship will be filmed and produced into a 2 hour show that will be broadcast on Time-Warner and Comcast Cable networks in the Kansas City metro area.

JUDGES VOTING: At shows where judges vote, they will score bands on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the highest) in 4 different categories: stage presence, songwriting, musicianship and crowd response.
