Default Job for a Cowboy

I like this band a lot. They only have an EP but I sense a lot of potential in them. They have some interesting ideas put into their songs and I like the good combination of the Metalcore and Deathmetal. I noticed there seem to be a lot of friction between them and people on these boards and other boards as well. Whats the deal?

Aside from a few melodic parts that sounded decent, unimpressive.

Fair enough I guess. The guys look like total tools, but I think they put some pretty good music. Its only an EP, I find most beginning demos to be crap. Wouldn't it be better to wait till their full length album for serious criticism?

I must say I disagree. I enjoy this band, mainly due to the vocalist's ability to (for lack of a better word) dual-scream. He sounds as if he's growling and shrieking at the same time (and no, it's not another vocalist, though they do employ one, on occasion). It sounds like he's screaming while inhaling, which is pretty damn cool, I think.

The one problem I have with JFAC is their fans; namely, scene kids who obsess over them while wasting away on Myspace. This band certainly isn't breaking any new ground (besides maybe the vocals, the like of which I've never heard before), but at least they're bringing something refreshing to the table. Also, they don't obsess over breakdowns, but actually develop their songs.

And c'mon, who can deny that opening sample in 'Entombment of A Machine'?

(PS: Explain to me how JFAC is tough guy, exactly?)

You're one of the few people who defends JFAC that semi-sounds like you know what you're talking about and I give you credit for that. However I disagree with alot of what you said.

1. Inhale screaming is a cop-out. Anyone can do it and the fact that he relies on it shows his immaturity as a vocalist. Also the overuse of the "squeal" detracts from the music instead of adding to it like bands such as Circle Of Dead Children, Regurgitate, and on the "Deathcore" side of things All Shall Perish.

2. Don't rely on breakdowns? Half of their songs are harmonic minor. They build TOWARD the tonic of the note (being either D or something similar, I don't know what they tune to). Breakdowns by nature aren't a bad thing, but JFAC does in deed overuse them.

Default royally trumped.

T_T

I guess I haven't listened to enough 'core' to have heard inhale-screaming. I just feel ignorant now.

PS: If JFAC overuses breakdowns, I don't wanna know what you think of Symphony In Peril or Dead to Fall.

JFAC a cowboy is sick. When they came to Houston my friend had them stayed at his house and according to him they are some pretty cool guys aside from just being a ****ing brutal metal band

I think the singer should just use his death growl. I like that better in my opinion.

What about the instrumental part? I think Knee Deep has a lot of good riffs and drumming parts. They seem technical in the sense of song writing but the artists themselves are not that skillful (at least not exceptionally skilled.

Can anyone recommend some stuff that sounds like JFAC? I have heard of Circle of Dead Children, whats a good album by them?
