Cover songs make me angry
Hey,
Lately a lot of bands have been putting out cover songs to old classics. Sadly almost all of them butcher the orgionals like Jeffrey Dahmer with a 13 year old boy.
First on the list is Shinedown with their cover of Lynard Skynard - Simple Man. For being on the radio as much as it is, it doesn't hold a candle light to the orgional. The guitar is awesome, but Brent Smith made the vocals nearly unbearable with his over-singing (much like in the acoustic of '45').
Second is the Limp **** remake of The Who - Behind Blue Eyes. By all means a decent song if you haven't heard the orgional. And to add insult to injury
on this one, its sung by that egotistical tampon Fred Durst.
Finally there's the ever present Metallica. A band who pissed and moaned about copying music, while making well over 20 cover songs. At the top of the pile lies The Misfits - Die Die Die My Darling and Bob Seger - Turn the page.
Don't get me wrong, not all cover songs have been bad. Manson's done a few badass remakes in his time.
Let me know what you all think. I'd like to know I'm not the only one getting angry about the dismemberment of Classic songs.
