One band that is enormously successful ACDC, was never quite the same for me after they lost Bon Scott, their best vocalist,,,I don't Hate Brian, but I think the band lost a lot of their original flavor when Scott died. Anybody have any ideas on a good fit for ACDC besides Brian??
I feel the same way about AC/DC, and I'd have to think about that question... very cool idea.

The Darkness
Coheed
Puddle of Mudd
AC/DC
Rage
Buckcherry
Muse

Small doses only please. The vocals make me cringe even though I like most of the music.

I also have a love/hate relationship with Mercyful Fate even though Gypsy is one of my all time favorite songs.

As much as I love Smashing Pumpkins, his voice sometimes gives me a headache.
But a lot of the afore mentioned bands just wouldn't be the same without the annoying voice.
Nawmean?

It could also be because we are so used to the singer we can't picture anyone else there...Or hear anyone else there.

This is true.
Same with Rage Against the Machine and Disturbed. Vocally, neither one of them are talented, but the bands just wouldn't be the same without them.

I like David Draiman's voice and I think he does have some amount of talent vocally. I don't think his talent is as big as his ego but he's both rockin' and melodic and not annoying (IMO) like the other bands mentioned. Zach De La Rocha on the other hand, has a unique sound. I don't know if you would call that talent though. You can't really confuse him with anyone else but he does get overbearing after awhile. You're right though, the bands wouldn't be the same without them.

I like de la Rochas vocals. I think chemestry is more important than tehnicality, he may not be a technical singer. But he's a much better fit for the bands sound and vision than say Chris Cornell, as we learned from Audioslave.

The Mars Volta, Alestrom, and Death Angel are the ones I think of off the top of my head.

Any of the wave of new bands in England that have come out lately. They all just sound the same to me. Pigeon detectives, hoosiers, scouting for girls, enemy, arctic monkeys, libertines, etc

Not saying I'd love these bands if they had better singers but it'd definitely help!

I agree with you, there's been a massive increase in the amount of regional accents which are more prominent now. Arctic Monkeys set this trend i think, and then there's all the mockney acts such as Jamie T and Kate Nash, where it seems like it's their only gimmick. It's even seen in more mainstream outfits like The Kooks.
That said, i don't like their music anyway.
