What's up with modern music? (dance, old music, pop, beatles)

And when did the MODERN era begin. Id say the 80's cause thats the last time anything really different happened. We've still got Ozzy, Manson, I think modern music is kinda cool. Its live any other music era, has highs and lows.

Queen and Ozzy are hardly "modern".

i can't see any monumental bands at the moment either. The music is still good but there is a lack of truely elite untouchable bands. In 10 years time who will they be referring to as the 'epitome of 00's music'!?

ull be smoted for saying that. I think theyve only released about 4 good songs, Elephant was a reasonably strong album though. I doubt they are the key band of this half-decade

i'll be smoted for stating my opinion? right then. their the only band with a hint of orginality around at the moment. they're different from everything else. 4 good songs? try 4 good albums (my opinion of course)

I defined modern 'era'. What has changed in music since Queen or Ozzy or anything from the eighties. Pop? nope. Rock 'n' Roll? nope. Blues? nope. So nothing new has happened thats goona go down in history, from that point of view they are modern.

Had you told someone in the 1980s that 3 of the most influential bands of that era would be The Pixies , REM & The Smiths people would have probably laughed at you, due to the fact they sold very few records then.

You won`t know what the most groundbreaking acts of today are until they`ve influenced people.
