"Quite possibly the best straight up black metal song of all time" is about as well as I can describe it.

Loving this from the Newsted album and the new album has a Voivod vibe especially in the second half. Pity about his hairdo though!

I'm trying to remember which Evile song that ripped off. At least I'm pretty sure they ripped off Evile. They even sound like a watered down version of Evile. Two thumbs down.

You should look up Teitanblood or Diocletian if you like Katharsis.

I can't remember it sounding like an Evile song but they have only made one decent album (Into The Grave) which was produced by Flemming Rasmussen who produced Master Of Puppets and it sounded like a Metallics rip off so by that Newsted is just going back to his Metallica roots!

Anyhow I like it and like I said there is far more of a Voivod vibe on the album in the second half. Give it a whirl!

Retread or not the new Carcass album kicks more ass than a one-legged Bruce Lee in an ass kicking contest. Here's hoping Michael Amott will put Arch Enemy on the side burner and concentrate on Carcass. It's not AE have anything left to contribute anyway. And I'd kill a hobo with a hammer to see Carcass live.

And holy ****, Jeff Walker's vocals haven't aged a day.

Edit: Oops. It looks like Amott isn't even IN Carcass anymore. It looks like this was just made by Jeff Walker, Bill Steer, and a new drummer named Daniel Wilding. Oh well, **** him. Just means the concerned parties won't be distracted by releasing bull****, second-rate Carcass albums, only good ones.

I've just been listening to both of them and they're amazing. I've been wishing I could find more extreme metal that was as ugly and noisy and messy sounding as the kind of stuff from the eighties around the time the genre lines between thrash metal, black metal, and death metal weren't yet set in stone (Bathory, Hellhammer, early Sepultura, Sarcofago, etc) and a lot of the stuff you listen to is fitting the bill these days. We seem to have more in common musically than I used to think.

Edit: I was just looking at a Metal Archives review of Teitanblood's Seven Chalices, and it had one of the better lines I've heard in a review...

The Live Undead versions of the songs from the debut **** on the originals. They've just sped them up, but **** do they sound mean as all hell.

I'm glad you like them, Buttlord. I like the purebreds, sure, but it seems like too much of Death & Black Metal have become parodies of themselves or degenerated into absurd subgenres like deathcore or suicidal depressive black metal.

If you don't think a band with a song called "Zombie Graveyard Rape Bonanza" is fun then you are boring.
