I definitely don't get that vibe from any of Slayer's other albums--although I've never heard Divine Intervention.
You might just be autistic. "Disposable Youth" and "Skeletons of Society" I can kind of sort of maybe not really understand, but "War Ensemble"? That's pure thrash. You're ****ing crazy.

Oh no. I wasn't saying that "War Ensemble" was similar. Fans of System of a Down made mixtapes of their music and included notable Slayer songs on them. All four members of System of a Down cite Slayer as their biggest influence, and they modeled their manic, aggressive song structures from Reign In Blood. There is certainly some overlap in their fanbases without a doubt, and that's how Slayer songs appeared along with SOAD songs on mixtapes.

So why are you bitching about Seasons in the Abyss when you should be bitching about Reign in Blood?

I like the chaotic sound of Reign In Blood. I love it when bands copy that album's sound. That's what a lot of early death metal did. Hell, if Seasons had that sound, it would actually be good. As it is now, Seasons is about as interesting to me as a Testament album. I'll change my statement earlier about Seasons being generic and I'll concede that the music on Seasons is the most ambitious album Slayer ever wrote, but it has such a dull atmosphere it makes that totally irrelevant. "War Ensemble", "Spirit In Black," "Hallowed Point," "Skeletons of Society," and the closing track come the closest to sound like their earlier material, but the rest of the album is whimpy ****. It's about as far removed from the satanic sound of Hell Awaits, or the punk-y sound of Show No Mercy, or the chaotic, visceral sound of Reign In Blood, or the doom-y sound of South Of Heaven as you can get.

That's it. I've said all there is about my thoughts on Seasons.

You should at least listen to the album before making ridiculous claims about it.

Yeah it's kind of like a Testament album in a way I suppose, but it beats any Testament album like a redheaded stepchild.

Testament is an incredibly boring band. If they ever had any songs that didn't suck, it would be on a couple of their newest albums. Doesn't help that Chuck Billy sounds like he'd doing a Hetfield impersonation.

New World Order is a pretty sweet album, along with The Gathering to a lesser extent, but in general I definitely don't care.

*shaking head*

You don't deserve a gif. Go listen to modern Megadeth.

I can see some similarities in the way he ends his phrases with a longer note, but otherwise: no not at all.

I'm not going to complain further about them since this isn't the "unpopular music opinions" thread, but I think the first time they managed to write a single song that I thought was fun to listen to was on The Formation of Damnation from 2009 or something.
