Getting shows (metal, bands)

Not sure if this is the right place to put this but does anyone here have any advise on getting lots of shows in the UK. Basically I've contacted 100s of venues and maybe 2% actually reply and maybe 1.5% give you a show. How do bands sort out tours and stuff? Any help would be very cool.

IF you live outside the uk i would first try contacting the musicians union they must be able to give you advice.
Having said that there are plenty of turn up and play places in london(jam sessions).It obviously depends on the band you are.Give me more details and i can help you more.

Well we're a metal band so not all venues, to say the least, are open to us. It's kinda tough knowing where to send stuff out, a lot of venues claim they have all types of music but you say metal and they're like no.
