*edit* before i start i like nirvana, kurt was an over rated c*nt who shot himself because like all grunge bands nirvana would have died out correct me if im wrong but the onli band that came out of the seattle scene who are still around are pearl jam? and they are noway as big as they were

good question. i'd probably say jimi hendrix for how he progressed and expanded what could be done with the guitar- the pivotal instrument of rock music in my opinion
