Thumbs up Alestorm (Scottish Pirate Metal)

Loved this band from the moment I heard them from a free CD in either 'Kerrang' or 'Metal Hammer'.

A few of my ultimate favorable tracks...

Too gimmicky for me.

That may sound somewhat hypocritical since I love plenty of Viking metal and fantasy-themed power metal, but I just can't get into the whole ahoy-matey shtick.

I love all their songs about walking the plank and drinking beer and mead etc. At least you can understand what they're singing about

They're fun, and the gimmick adds to it. I wouldn't call them great musicians or anything but I'd totally pay cash to see them live and get drunk with my mateys.

I love them to be honest but I'd also love to get absolutely rat arsed whilst singing their songs hehe

They definitely know how to fun. I haven't listened to them much lately, but they do what they do and they do it well.

It's hard to get mad at a band for ripping off such a silly gimmick, but they kinda did...

Alestorm is lots of fun to see live and we were singing their songs all the way home.

I went to go see them in December, they are such a fun band to see live and I don’t mind their gimmick at all, their lyrics are hilarious.

Favourites are probably:

Fannybaws
Drink
Hangover

****ing LOVE Alestorm!
Love the song "Wooden Leg", specially where he sings something like "A Spaniard blew off my leg! Aaah you Spanish bastard!" then changes it to Japanese and other nationalities. Here:
