Default Can anyone describe the stylistic difference between older/newer Foo Fighters albums?

I typically group the Foo Fighters music into two categories - their first four albums (Foo Fighters, The Colour And The Shape, There Is Nothing Left To Loose and One By One) and their four newer albums (In Your Honor, Echoes Silence Patience and Grace, Wasting Light and Sonic Highways). Odd songs from their more recent albums seem exceptions, such as Sean, which I place more into the category of their older albums.

In my opinion I find their earlier work more memorable on average, in particular their 1995 debut and One By One, but can't quite describe why this is. Can anyone describe the difference?

We can, but we won't.

I always just think what mike patton said one time about Foo fighters

they could of done so much more and took many more risk and experiment more

esp since dave already established foundation with Nirvina

but yet IMO they went straight corporate rock and lackluster boring music

All I will say is I disagree with the corporate rock notion. I think that's a bit of an over reach. However I still find Wasting Light to easily match their earlier work.

I certainly don't think so. Dave Grohl spends more money on marketing himself than Kanye.

The guy exists to make people happy. I think he should be allowed to do that. I'm not really a big fan of "That guy is always trying to do good things so there must be something wrong with him" mindsets. Comes off petty. F*ck you Frown. I hope you die.
