Death metal never really came in waves as far as I know. It's more scene-oriented, at least early on. Scenes are a thing I've contemplated, but I dunno. After Florida, New York, Sweden, and Finland you're kind of picking at straws.

Ideally, but if you're in then you're in. So get out.

You know that it's not really an album club unless you have a confusing set of convoluted rules, at least half of which are regularly questioned and challenged by one or more members. Two hissy fits or meltdowns a week is essential, and you should really have a ****storm once a month minimum.

If not, you're just playing around at having a club.
How often do those threads actually last though? And if they do last do they last just because of rule ****storms?

I vote in favor of whatever most other members want.
Lulz, I've not listened to much Gorod, and not in several years, but it amuses me that you of all people would like them.

oh, my favorite topic. Glad to see this is a thing. I let my old post die, and only come here on occasion.

I tend to like a random band or two in genres I don't normally like for whatever reason. With death metal and adjacent styles, it's Gorod and Nile. And maybe the rare bit of Napalm Death.

Like I say, what I know about DM you could write on a matchbox, set fire to it, and sift through the ashes and still have too much space to write.

You won't get rid of me that easily. I'm like a carbuncle that just won't let go.

I won't lie, man: they take ****ing effort. If you don't care, then guess what? Nobody else will. You're gonna have to keep people's interest, keep reminding them, badgering them, pushing them, threatening them. I recommend buying a pair of these cos you will need them.

Nile are pretty cool, I am still pretty partial to "In the Darkened Shrines".

I say to people, if they are fans of Nile, they should check out Necronomicon, who are a band out of Quebec, who do a similar thing, but instead of the Egyptian themes of Nile, use a Native theme, and a lot of that... their album "The Sacred Medicines" is one of my favorite albums.

I'll give them a listen some time later. Right now I've got some music on my stereo that I want to listen to. I'm ridiculously picky with this genre, but they'll get their chance.

I'll tentatively join as well.

I like the idea of us voting on the album, but I'll listen to whatever. Death metal is heavily album-oriented, and it would probably be best to avoid doing 2 or more albums of the same style in a row. I'm assuming this thread will include fusion genres?
