there were many ****ty bands in the 80s, maiden however were not one of them.

Yeah Im glad someone said it but Bark at the moon is not an Black Sabbath song.

For one thing, I think Iron Maiden are complete crap, for alot of diffrent reasons and I think when you compare them to Judas Priest and Motorhead they come in a distant 4th.

Black Sabbath on the other hand has a slew of songs that are great tunes in general. Forget that influential garbage, I think most people are morons so whether their impressed or not doesn't impress me. But tracks like Iron Man, Sweet Leaf, The Wizard, and War Pigs are still pretty damn good when you hear them today. I don't hear Maiden anywhere today and the last time I saw them referenced was because their were on a poster in my sophmore english class. Thats right, my 55+ english teacher had a poster of theirs...lame.

Well you dont seem to be all too familiar with metal if you think those bands are hair metal, what is your definition of hair metal?, to me it seems like you think that if a band plays metal music and they have long hair, they must be hair metal, which isn't true...Saying that a band is hair metal because of their image is silly, It's like saying that genesis are goth because Peter Gabriel used to wear black and white makeup on stage, or that Sonic Youth are grunge because they wear flannel...These are the accurate genres that those bands you mentioned fall under.

Motörhead:they are by NO MEANS hair metal, they are speed metal, and basicly invented that genre...plus they were a major influence on thrash metal and thrash bands like metallica and pantera.

Bon Jovi:well they could be labeled as hair metal, but they do predate the genre by a couple of years...and some would just call them pop metal.

Van Halen:not hair metal, they have been around since the late 70s...true they did influence glam metal, but some dont even consider glam metal hair metal.

Alice Cooper:70s glam rock.

And Iron Maiden are simply metal, and they are the most innovative metal band second only to Sabbath and maybe Motorhead...They dont belong to any of its sub genre's. Especialy not hair metal, saying they are hair metal is like saying the Rolling Stones are european novelty techno.

Actually Lemmy hates Motorhead being called a metal band. As far as he`s concerned Motorhead are a Rock n Roll band.
