Ronnie Hawkins

What is the collective opinion about Ronnie and his music. Personally I never really thought that he was that good. Perhaps it's just the fact that I never really liked his style of music. He to me was sort of a Lyon Russell style guy....

It would seem as suspected not many here have heard of Ronnie Hawkins......

I have not heard too much, but I say that the early stuff is good Rock and Roll. Ronnie Hawkins and The Hawks were a solid band at the right time, although I should check out more of his stuff after the Roulette years. They may not have stood out as much, but there was an influence that carried onto great musicians.

He is credited with getting The Band started. And also for inventing the moonwalk (sort of). Interesting character, no doubt.

Well my hats off to anyone who got the Band going. They wrote some great songs!
