Heres To The Wolves Of Summer
Loosely based off "Take One Home For The Kiddies" by Phillip Larkin =) thank you right-track.
I wrote this on spot so there may be a few errors i've missed.
Heres To The Wolves Of Summer
The summer it seemed to live forever,
Our rock fights beneath a bright blue sky,
The mud slapped across our face,
Giving us a darker shade,
Cleaning up in the shallow creek,
Oh the cold how it would sting,
While we would all sing our songs,
The ones on the radio we love,
Oh how we loved,
With our hearts of gold,
Our school boy honesty,
Our loyalty became something unseen,
Our beauty something so serene.
We'd play our games of hide and seek,
Fingers laced, over our eyes they're placed,
Cheating is something so unseen,
And when one of us would be caught,
We'd flee into the darkening green,
Back and fourth between the barrens,
So fast, nothing more then shadows in the light.
But the adults they didn't understand,
They stared like we'd watch the birds,
In an envy of being free,
While some admire the beauty,
Others shoot their wings,
"Grow up they said"
Trying to pin us down,
But they're no different,
Their business just card trades,
Their money just paper and plastic,
Their wars nothing more then a game of guns in the park.
