Cocaine Whiteout
Cocaine whiteout,
The worlds spinning outside the car window,
There's frost still laying there but I only see dots floating past,
Like balloons in the sky shattering against the side of a car,
Every flake has a name and a number written on a napkin
To be "forgotten" and thrown in a trash can,
But hey I'm just dreaming of taking the moonlight and making a rainbow,
Every snowflake has it's own name
Every snowflake has it's own lie to tell,
As the world becomes distorted
And everything turns black,
I'm just trying to follow the double line
But the lines they are a-changin' all the time,
And maybe you'll find me crying behind the wheel
But only two tears,
One for the child I was,
One for the bitter man I've become
Cause only ghosts drive in this weather.
And suddenly a memory attacks me as the car spins,
There's frost on the window it's december 2006,
And between us lays this silence that won't stop,
You speak first "you're so quiet."
I know, but it's only cause I'm thinking of running away,
Turning this wheel right off the cliff and disappearing into the sea,
The cold freezing us together to die in eachothers arms,
And stay that way forever, two statues
Entwined like tales we're told as kids,
That seem to go on forever
With a magic that can't be described
But only seen in our frozen eyes.
I love you you know,
So much and I don't want us to ever end,
You say I'm kind of crazy nowadays
But back then when I was yours I was okay,
Well who I was can be who I am and who I am can drift away
Like ice in the sea
But you have to understand
I've always been kind of crazy,
I wanted to die that night by our side,
Cause I know that if we ended happy
Everything would be alright,
So I sit here now with your ghost next to me,
I could turn this wheel and kill myself right now
Lord knows it would be fitting enough,
But this joke isn't funny anymore,
Maybe it was never a joke,
But I can't control the wheel anymore
And there's a smile crossing my face,
If only you were here, babe.
