We Are Words and Nothing More
Come on by when we finish up school
I'll be sitting around with nothing to do,
A cigarette burning between my lips
And we can leave this place
Get in the car and just go,
We don't have to set a destination,
"As long as I'm with you"
As the old songs sing,
We'll forget our lives
Who needs to sort things out
When you can give it to the wind
And watch it float away?
All we need is this old bucket of bolts,
We'll just listen to XO over and over again
As the summer air spills over the dashboard,
With this season comes a new kind of love,
Though it's just two lonely figures,
A shy me and a quiet you,
I use to dream about these days,
When the road just goes on and on,
And I'd be by your side talking
Forgetting what it's like,
To feel something shatter like a mirror
She'd stare into, combing her hair,
"How do I look?" "Just fine."
I could never forget what that's like.
So we'll park this at the side of the road
Watch the ocean hit the shore,
All we need is some sort of a revolution,
To let us know that hand in hand
This is a right and to let the past sail away,
Like driftwood into the ocean,
As we sit in the sand, hand in hand,
A cigarette burns between my lips,
And how could I forget this?
You and me, with nothing to do,
Just watching life, steadily pull me away from you.
