lame title, I was going to go with you drink and live you lose, but it didn't seem any better.

Drinking & Living.

Its like a foreign language that comes and twists
With a melody that gets put to the music of empty streets,
And my eyes they burn from a lack of sleep,
I havn't completely come down to tell the truth,
I'm still fucked up and high and ready for a dive
Off of the nearest cliff I can find.

So I watch the sun begin to rise through tired eyes,
And though it burns to stare, I draw a metaphor in my mind,
Of no matter how dark the night its always followed by the light,
And even in the most black ones you'll have stars in the sky,
But I dimiss it off as just another cliche,
So I pour another shot and lay back down again.

But those words, they still circle aroud in my head,
Yet I still can't manage to full grasp the meaning,
Of such an overused metaphor and I listen for
Words that always come to me in times of need,
But hes been buried and hes still seeking relief,
So I try and seek solace in my own words but they fell short,
And its less like the picture I envisioned, and more just
Another smeared portrait where the road and home are one.

And I wake to find myself not where I laid my head,
I'm in a different place and the lights are all dead,
So I fumble through the dark and look for the light,
But theres no switch I can find so I stay trapped in the night,
Oh but I hear something in the dark, a songbird's song,
And I wander and trip and stumble till I find the wings where I belong.

the third verse just didnt seem to have the same imagery as the rest did, but overall its pretty good.

Its a nickname for one of my best friends, well sort of. Its what I refer to her as in poems because I wrote a poem ages ago called songbird about her.
