R&B/SOUL. From the 60s & 70s. (funk, punk)

As my favorite style, & era. of music, and major influence as vocalsbass, with cover band,zzzz", etc. The 70s Soul, Is my favorite era! But the best, of it all. The 60s R&B/Soul, Vocals, Smooth-Funk/Bass, etc. Equal's, ONE. With any band? The Drums/Bass. Are the heart & Soul, of all bands, style's, artist, etc. When you combine, R&B/Soul, from the 60s & 70s? Thats my favorite era's, of choice. Doesn't get any better, And can be just as good. Whatever the era, style, etc, of choice may be (In my opinion). VB

I think he's saying the mix of 60's R&B with 70's Soul is the best fusion of music ever.

At least I hope he said that cos I'd agree, with the excepton of post punk, but I'd never dare compare the two.

You ever checked out a series of Superfly soul compliations on CD? There is some brilliant dirty funk on them. just the sort of thing I love.

The music that I am influenced by, musically. And as a hobby musician. Is the meaning of the thread. Open to any suggestions, opinions, Individual favorite Bands, Artist, etc. Lets start with, Favorite Bands & Artist, From the 60s & 70s ?

That CD is worth the money just for Gil Scott Heron's 'The Bottle' and you can't go wrong with Curtis Mayfield.

The Bottle is an amazing track. I adore this album and it only cost me a fiver! If you have any pointers to similar stuff LMK!

60's Geno Washington, Billy Butler, Edwin Starr, JJ Barnes, Isley Brothers, Jackie Wilson, Major Lance.
Far too many to mention.

Special mention for a very under-rated female soul singer...Brenda Holloway. Has the voice of an angel.
