Well, I had a look on YouTube at a few songs, including the ones the Rolling Stones reviewer enthused about, and I have to say that they did nothing for me. Just one slow, slow ballad after another, all, apparently, about me an' my man, which reveals a rather dated attitude imo: as if a woman can only find fulfillment as the happy bride of Mr. Right and is immediately cast into languid misery if she hooks up with Mr. Wrong.
Come on Aretha! Lighten up and get a life!

I assume you've heard Chain Of Fools. That's actually my favorite Aretha song.

^ If you say so, Oriphiel ! TBH I'm a bit old to explore any such avenue myself.

^ Ah yes, I remember this one now! It's a pretty good song with a decent rhythm to it, although once again the lyrics are on the theme of my man done me wrong:-

What a voice that is Aretha Franklin. She is a diva but a legend.
