I agree with your list of legends- especially Cliff and Dimebag. They were metal gods.
I've taken your advice about For Whom The Bell Tolls. It is pretty simple and such a good song, so I'm going to learn the lead part and my friend's going to do rhythm and vocals.
Hows your music going at the moment? I wish I had more time to dedicate to learning guitar. Hope you've been listening to lots of Megadeth

yea i agree with the other ppl start off slowly like @ 60 which may seem extreme but its actually hard to play slow and also ill improve or sense of rhythm soo yea

one more thing....learning to tap is very helpful for solos

Try learning 'Living After Midnight' by Judas Priest, that song rocks and its easy the solo is kinda fast but simple.:-)
