Default What should I get?! Where to start?

After playing bass for a couple years on and off and piano for like 4 years, I'm starting to get bored and want to learn guitar, and I need help.

What should I get? Anyone have suggestions for a begginer guitar/amp?

Should I take lessons? Anyone have any good resources for begginners like me so that I don't have to hire a teacher? I would much rather teach myself.

Thanks for the help.

For the resources, I'd go Chordbook.Com for chords, you can also tune your guitar on that website =P
