Default What should I get?! Where to start?

After playing bass for a couple years on and off and piano for like 4 years, I'm starting to get bored and want to learn guitar, and I need help.

What should I get? Anyone have suggestions for a begginer guitar/amp?

Should I take lessons? Anyone have any good resources for begginners like me so that I don't have to hire a teacher? I would much rather teach myself.

Thanks for the help.

For the resources, I'd go Chordbook.Com for chords, you can also tune your guitar on that website =P

if you go to any music store, you will probably find a Fender guitar starter package with an amp, chord, tuner, extra strings, electric or acoustic guitar, and starter dvd... there are some really awesome Fender amps you should look into if you are a starter.

I don't know what your budget is, but there are some very very good and cheap Fender/Squier strat/tele's, and then get a small amp
