There are lots of website promising that it is easy to learn music online.

Yes we can for example I play guitar due to some good YouTube guitar tutorials.
You've got to pick the good tutorials but the first minute of a video will tell you if it's useful or not.

Of course you can!. There's a lot of websites that can teach you how to learn to play an instrument now.

Also, there's a lot of videos on YouTube. I learned my firsts guitar songs thanks to YouTube and his amazing tutorials.

Personally speaking it's almost the same as being in a music class but the learning it's a little bit more slowly.
