It's very egocentric of me, but I am really thinking; If this is the way to keep safe, let's just kill eachother. Because this is sick. Fighting for peace? Come on. Then your qualms aren't about any military. They are about the nature of humanity.
Regardless of motive, there must still exist a force that is capable of defending itself, and those it represents, from others. Since we can't change humanity itself, a military becomes the only other option, unless you fancy the prospect of being completely wiped off the map by someone else. It's rather pointless to be angry at the very nature of our being. You can't change it.
